May 11th, 2022 7:00pm: Emme will be reading with Incite at Literary Arts in downtown Portland. The event is free. Proof of vaccination or negative Covid test and mask is required. More info can be found here.

Starting June 15th, Emme will be teaching an online workshop on writing place through Dallas Writing Workshops. When New York’s a Character: On Writing Place and Setting is a four-week course. We will meet on Wednesdays from 5pm pst – 7pm pst. All writing levels are welcome. You can learn more and register here.

The Boy with a Bird in His Chest, a novel about Owen, a boy who is born with a chatty bird living inside his chest, was published in 2022 by Atria Books. The novel received lovely reviews in USA Today, The Star Tribune, and Zyzzyva, among scores of other publications. You can order it here.

Emme wrote an essay in response to the anti-trans legislation that has been springing up in over 30 states in the US for TIME Magazine. She is asking her cisgender allies to do more to fight the legislation and anti-trans sentiment. You can read the essay here.
